I have some thoughts, in light of news that Underverse is cancelled.

Being put up on a pedestal is an inherently dehumanising experience, whether you're being idolised or demonised.

I've gone through a bit of harassment, demonising, bullying. It's a micro version of what the biggest creators in a field experience, but even THAT is extremely traumatising. It's one of the factors that contributed to my severe burn out.

Don't assume that it's because any particular fandom is 'toxic', because fandoms are just made of individuals, and you will always find bad behaviour and, yes, even abusers and predators, in any fandom and in any community. There are no squeaky clean communities. They are made of people, and people are messy and complicated. People are capable of incredible compassion, and of horrifying abuse.

This is a good time to self reflect, and practise not being reactionary. There will always be pressure to appear good on social media, and that will feel like a time limit. The healthy and mature thing to do is to step away and reflect on it, speak privately to trusted confidants, and collect information in which to make an informed decision.

The pressure you put on yourself to be perfect is also the pressure you put on others to do the same. You project that energy out into the world. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others.

And think very carefully about what justice means to you, how that looks. Who stands to benefit, and what the consequences are of pursuing it, or not. Does rehabilitation factor in to your view of justice? What does being held accountable mean to you, and how long does the punishment last?

And this is all most important when the accusations are so serious, the more serious the alleged action, the more careful you should be. Acting is becoming complicit, and your own individual actions are always meaningful and far reaching, even if it doesn't seem like it. Make sure you know exactly what you are becoming complicit in.

Be honest with yourself.

Being part of a community is work, there will always be conflict. You need to learn how to foster a better, healthier community. Not perfect. Better.

Icarus' reactions to the bars are just kind of sad. The first reaction is to the bars replacing the glass on the bee dome and bird area is mostly just snarky. Sure they have to go into these areas often (and going into them would probably give them a panic attack because bars trap and cage and Icarus does not liking being caged), but they also don't *have* to go into these areas in this immediate moment, they can change it back to glass or ignore it out right until quixis changes it back. So to quixis goes the "Do you like think you're funny?" Before they go into their house. Their reaction in the house is very different to their reaction outside. The glass in the house also changed to iron bars, and while they don't take note of that immediately, looking around for a moment, their eyes do eventually catch the bars. And there's a small pause before they react, a moment of realization that they're *inside* (trapped and caged and looking out at everyone else who's free to come and go as they please) before they heistate and promptly decide theyre not working on the house right then. Even as they're walking out their eyes catch the bars right near the door and they almost do a small jump. Icarus gets *scared* at the concept of being trapped like that, even if they have an open clear nice way out. Their snarky asshole "im right, youre wrong" demeanor falls away the second they're scared - the second they're trapped and reminded so clearly of *that*, the them that's still in there, shoved down under layers and layers of a carefully built facade, comes out and shines very clearly through. (Something about how things from the endstone reset keep coming back and back and *back*)

It drives me up a wall when people say that Donald Trump isn't tied to project 2025 and that it's a Boogeyman when:

• Trump has been photographed with the Heritage Foundation founder, (Kevin Roberts)

• His Vice President, JD Vance, wrote the foreword of a book by Kevin Roberts, the Heritage Foundation founder.

• a majority of the contributors are connected to Trump

• the plan intends to use Schedule F, something Trump enacted, to clean out the White House

• Agenda 47 literally has watered down versions of the same ideas

• He said he would be a dictator on day one

Are your ears ok with all that sand in them?

Also even if he weren't involved, Project 2025 is the kind of document you don't fuck around and find out with.

good god. done some brief catching up of the news over the past few weeks in the uk since ive been pretty tapped out due to focusing on uni and having like. a still ongoing mental health crisis. very bleak that having labour in charge literally seems no different to the conservatives. (didn't expect much but holy hell. it's bad) (giving ozempic to unemployed people to get them back to work? sending job advisors to visit patients in mental health hospitals?
